{"id":69,"date":"2025-10-28T16:48:43","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T14:48:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/washinwar.caritas.ua\/?p=69"},"modified":"2025-10-28T16:48:43","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T14:48:43","slug":"%d0%ba%d0%be%d0%bd%d1%84%d0%b5%d1%80%d0%b5%d0%bd%d1%86%d1%96%d1%8f-%d0%ba%d0%b0%d1%80%d1%96%d1%82%d0%b0%d1%81-%d1%83%d0%ba%d1%80%d0%b0%d1%97%d0%bd%d0%b8-%d0%b4%d0%be-%d0%b2%d1%81%d0%b5%d1%81%d0%b2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/washinwar.caritas.ua\/en\/news\/%d0%ba%d0%be%d0%bd%d1%84%d0%b5%d1%80%d0%b5%d0%bd%d1%86%d1%96%d1%8f-%d0%ba%d0%b0%d1%80%d1%96%d1%82%d0%b0%d1%81-%d1%83%d0%ba%d1%80%d0%b0%d1%97%d0%bd%d0%b8-%d0%b4%d0%be-%d0%b2%d1%81%d0%b5%d1%81%d0%b2\/","title":{"rendered":"Caritas Ukraine Conference Dedicated to World Water Day"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On March 20, 2025, within the framework of the <strong>#WASHinWAR campaign<\/strong>, a <strong>conference and photo exhibition \u201cWater in the Fire of War\u201d<\/strong> took place in Kyiv, organized by <strong>Caritas Ukraine<\/strong> in cooperation with <strong>Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The event brought together <strong>government representatives, international partners, researchers, humanitarian organizations, and local communities<\/strong> to discuss the devastating impact of the war on water resources and explore pathways toward their recovery.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Among the speakers were: <strong>Member of Parliament Yuliia Ovchynnykova<\/strong>, <strong>Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection Serhii Vlasenko<\/strong>, <strong>Rector of Taras Shevchenko National University Volodymyr Buhrov<\/strong>, <strong>representative of the State Water Resources Agency Kateryna Havrylenko<\/strong>, <strong>Counsellor at the Embassy of Denmark Camilla Christensen Rye<\/strong>, <strong>WASH Cluster Coordinator Fran\u00e7ois Belle<\/strong>, <strong>President of Caritas Ukraine Tetiana Stawnychy<\/strong>, <strong>WASH Programme Expert Tetiana Yatsiuk<\/strong>, as well as representatives of <strong>local self-government bodies, civil society, and international organizations<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During the discussion, participants addressed:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>the <strong>shortage of drinking water<\/strong> in frontline and de-occupied communities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>contamination of water resources<\/strong> due to infrastructure destruction and hostilities;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>practical solutions<\/strong> implemented by Caritas Ukraine together with international partners;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>and the <strong>need to hold Russia accountable<\/strong> for environmental crimes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWater is the foundation of life, yet we often realize its true value only when we face scarcity or contamination.
