In 25 cities across Ukraine, more than 1,700 participants joined a nationwide environmental initiative to clean up rivers, lakes, and other bodies of water on the occasion of World Water Day.

The goal of the “Save Water – Care for the Future” campaign is to raise awareness about the importance of access to safe water, encourage water conservation, and unite communities around environmental protection.

The initiative is part of the #WASHinWAR information and awareness campaign, which highlights the devastating impact of war on Ukraine’s water resources.

“Through this campaign, we wanted to show that protecting water resources starts with simple actions — cleaning up litter, using water wisely, and treating nature with care. During the war, water has become an even more vulnerable resource, and it depends on each of us whether we can preserve it for future generations,”
— said Tetiana Yatsiuk, Head of the WASH Programme.
